In 2006, our founder, Steve Johnson, launched his solar company and quickly became the most trusted solar installer in the area. Steve worked diligently with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and the State of Tennessee to create their first solar programs.
Since then LightWave Solar has completed over 1,400 PV systems, totaling over 80MW for businesses, municipalities, and homeowners to help meet their energy goals. All of our solar installers and staff are trained and certified in their department to help our customers get the best quality service with our experience and passion for clean, renewable energy.
Chris Koczaja has led Lightwave Solar as President & CEO since 2017. Chris has continued to guide Lightwave towards a sustainable future by being a part of local organizations and committees and helping to drive new projects in Tennessee and surrounding areas.
We have 70 full-time employees, including 8 NABCEP-certified Solar PV Professionals, more than any other company in the Southeast. The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) is the gold standard for solar certification. Additionally, we were ranked #3 in the 2025 list of Top Tennessee Solar Contractors by Solar Power World.
