The Cost of a Solar Powered System
LightWave builds custom systems with your unique home in mind. Different variables affect the cost of solar power, such as number of panels, number of batteries, whether you have roof-mounted panels or ground-mounted panels, and many others.
The smallest sized solar-powered system that we will design and install for you is a 5kW solar-only system. You can learn more about this system, including cost and requirements, on our Solar Starter Package page.
Types of Residential Solar
We custom design and build everything from roof-mounts and ground-mounts to solar canopies and carports. As a member of the Amicus Solar Cooperative, we get the most competitive rates on solar modules and inverters. We are also brand-agnostic, meaning we are happy to install any tier 1 solar module you desire, such as Silfab, QCell, REC, Solaria, and Mission. We typically install Solaredge and Enphase inverters.
Roof Mounted
A popular and stylish choice! Read our criteria for suitability:
- Faces south, east and/or west
- Has minimal shade from nearby trees
- Has minimal obstructions like chimneys, dormers, etc.
- Is in good condition and under 10 years old, typically
- Is asphalt shingle, metal, standing seam, or another material suitable for solar panels
Ground Mounted
Advantages that create a higher performing solar system!
- Maximizes sunlight exposure
- Minimizes impact from shading
- Provides more flexibility for space
- Better for more high-efficiency homes
- Panels are oriented due south at the perfect pitch to maximize sunlight exposure and install ground-mounted panels that have better air flow.

- Book a consultation through our website by scheduling the best day & time for our team to reach out to you.
- Our team will ask you the 3 most valuable questions we ask everyone: How much energy do you need? How much space do you have available? and What is your budget? Solar is not a one size fits all, so by asking these questions will ensure if solar is right for you.
- If solar still feels right for you, our team will schedule a time to come out to your property to survey your space. They will capture drone images and develop a 3D model of your space with proper measurement for our design team to draw up a detailed and custom solar design.
- Once a custom design is created and agreed upon by you and your project consultant, our team develops a detailed contract for your project and delivers it to you for your review.
- Upon contract signing, your solar journey officially begins!
