James McGhee, originally from Calgary, Canada, moved to Sewanee, Tennessee, in 2025 after retiring to be closer to his children and grandchildren. While his new home in Sewanee was being constructed, James took the opportunity to plan the property with solar and energy storage in mind.
He began by researching solar companies in the area. After looking into several installers, he found that many lacked the credibility and long-term track record he was looking for. James wanted to work with a trusted installer that had the proper licensing, certifications, and qualifications to design and install a system built to last. That’s when he was referred to Lightwave—and his solar journey began.

When asked why he ultimately decided to go solar, James explained that his decision went beyond finances:
“It wasn’t a financial choice, it was a moral choice to do as much as I could for green energy.”
– James McGhee
When reflecting on his experience with Lightwave, James described the process as professional and efficient. Because his home was newly constructed, accurately determining his future energy needs was especially important. Lightwave Sales Consultant Rachael McCulley did an excellent job analyzing James’s projected monthly and annual energy usage to design a system that was properly sized for his home and energy needs. The house has no natural gas service and relies almost entirely on solar, except in some of the dark, cold days of winter when energy from the local electrical grid is used.

For James, going solar was about more than installing panels on his roof. It was a personal commitment to supporting clean energy and making a positive impact for future generations. With Lightwave, he found a trusted partner to help turn that commitment into reality.
