solar panels on RV and boat storage at Mallory Station

Mallory Station Storage

  • Location: Brentwood & Franklin, TN
  • Solar Size: 520kW
  • Equipment Installed: Sharp 240 Watt solar modules & PV Powered Inverters
  • Mounting Type: Roof-Mount

In 2011, Mallory Station Storage contacted the Lightwave team to make the switch to solar. Our team completed the design and installation process and Mallory Station Storage has been generating solar energy at all of its storage facilities in Tennessee ever since.

Mallory Station’s total solar capacity is 520 kW in total which generates about 665,000 kWh annually. They even received the 30% commercial solar tax credit which led them to significant cost savings. They were so pleased with their solar generation and financial return, that the company invested in two system expansions in 2018.

“Solar is a low risk, high return investment that benefits society. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
- Brett Yocum, Vice President

About Mallory Station Storage

Mallory Station Storage has facilities in Brentwood and Franklin, Tennessee, and was voted the best storage facility in the Nashville area. Their storage facilities offer everything from climate-controlled units, 24/7 access, security cameras, moving and loading dollies, plus RV and boat storage. So whether you’re in the middle of a move, making room for an extra family member, or just going home for the summer, they have a storage unit to fit your needs.

Why is Solar Ideal for Self-Storage Facilities?

Self-storage facilities have several unique features that make them ideal for using solar power:

  • Often have plenty of unobstructed roof space with little or no shade.
  • Can more easily achieve net zero status since usage is relatively low.
  • Understand the need to reduce monthly expenses relative to monthly rent payments.

Solar is a smart investment that reduces electric costs for decades. Many of our self-storage customers install more than one system or decide to expand their existing system after seeing how well it works.

Are you a Business or Organization Interested in Solar?

Mallory Station Storage took advantage of the 30% commercial tax credit for solar which saved them thousands of dollars. However, the clock is ticking on commercial solar incentives. For those that want the full 30% tax credit, projects must be in place before December 31, 2027. After that date, projects must meet the begin-construction exception as outlined here:

  • You must begin construction by July 4, 2026.
  • Construction on or before July 4, 2026 can still qualify under the exception to the 12/31/2027 placed-in-service cutoff, and (under current continuity safe harbor concepts) generally must be placed in service within four calendar years after the year construction begins.
  • True to form, US tax code can be complicated and confusing, and there are important details that need to be understood to qualify.
